Twenty-five years. It’s the time of a generation, but above all it’s the time it took me to link my destiny to that of a land as fascinating as it is indomitable: Papua New Guinea (PNG).
I first arrived on this island as a young man, driven by an unquenchable thirst for discovery. What I found there exceeded all my expectations. In these misty mountains and remote valleys, I discovered what I’d been looking for without knowing what it was: a total change of scenery, absolute freedom and Adventure with a capital A.
This first voyage of initiation lasting over six months was not just a geographical exploration; it was a human revelation. I found friends, a profound joie de vivre and a place where I felt I was living life to the full.
After this initial contact, the return trip was inevitable. I came back again and again, first as a solo traveler, then very quickly with the desire to share these emotions. And so the first tours were born.
Going from personal adventure to travel organization was a long learning curve. Papua is not easily tamed. I had to learn to cope with its logistical demands, unforeseen events and complex geography. But every difficulty was a lesson, and every encounter a reward. I had the profound feeling of having found my path: to become a bridge between the world and this country I love so much.
This adventure could not remain the work of just one man. In order to offer experiences in keeping with the richness of Papua’s culture, I multiplied the number of collaborations. I took on board passionate men and women who shared the same travel ethic.
Today, Voyages en Papouasie is much more than an agency; it’s a solid structure recognized throughout the country. We have several employees in Papua who are the beating heart of our organization. Thanks to this team, we have been able to structure our know-how while retaining our explorer’s soul.
Twenty-five years later, the spark has remained intact. Our mission today is clear:
We don’t just show you landscapes; we open the doors to an incredible world, with the certainty that you’ll never come back from a trip to Papua quite the same.
“My greatest success is to have transformed a youthful passion into a collective human adventure that continues, every day, to be written with you.” – Philippe Gigliotti
