Happy New Year 2021! Api Nui Yia 2021

What do you wish for the year 2020, as the Coronavirus pandemic worsens in Europe?

Well, first of all, good health and courage in these difficult times.

At Voyages en Papouasie, we can only wish you – and ourselves – a speedy return to our shared passion for travel, and in particular, of course, travel to Papua New Guinea.

The situation there is reassuring. The country closed its borders early, imposed strict quarantine on all arrivals and has been largely spared the virus. Today, no cases have been reported and the epidemic has never really hit the country.

Life in Papua is now normal, except for the lack of travelers. Indeed, the country still imposes a week-long quarantine on new arrivals, making travel de facto virtually impossible.

For our part, we can only congratulate ourselves that Papua is doing so well, and beyond the purely human aspect, we can only hope that our travels can resume as soon as the situation improves in Europe, in a country that has been spared and doesn’t have to “rebuild” itself.

For your agency “Voyages en Papouasie”, the last few months have of course been difficult, but we’ve drawn inspiration from the resilience of Papuan cultures, by refocusing on ourselves, lowering the sails and waiting for things to pass, in the shelter of our “village”.

The time was used to reflect on the future of our travels, on what this pandemic could mean for the world of travel, and more specifically for travel to Papua New Guinea.

We’re convinced that in a tourism world that is turning more than ever to small-group travel, away from the crowds and the beaten track, in search of authenticity and real encounters that make sense, Papua will be more than ever an answer.

It’s now up to us to define new rules, new solutions, new offers, to guarantee everyone, including our Papuan partners, the sanitary safety the world will demand, and above all wonderful journeys, taking into account travelers’ new expectations.

Hurry, hurry, hurry, so we can get back on the trails that criss-cross the world!
